Spicy Calabrian Pesto

Spicy Calabrian Pesto Olive Oil is our take on the southern Italian table: crushed basil, sweet garlic, and the fruity heat of Calabrian chili, carried in a clean extra virgin olive oil.

It is not a jar of pesto. It is a finishing oil with the aroma of fresh pesto and a slow, warm kick. The heat sits in the finish, not the front, so it lifts a dish instead of covering it.

How it tastes

• Nose: fresh basil, garlic, green herb
• Palate: peppery olive oil, toasted garlic, a little sweetness
• Finish: Calabrian chili — fruity, medium heat, lingering

Use it on

• Hot pasta, gnocchi, or ravioli, finished off the heat
• Pizza, flatbread, and garlic bread
• Grilled chicken, shrimp, steak, and vegetables
